Musical talent hunt in Khagrachhari begins

“Sangeet Maitreer Bandhan, Sangeet Bhalobasha,” with this theme Khagrachhari Hill District Council (KHDC) has started a musical talent hunt programme from yesterday at the Upazila Complex under Ramghor upazila, in the hill district Khagrachhari.
KHDC has taken this initiative to discover the young talents in the remote areas of the hilly district. The talent hunt has already created much enthusiasm among the artistes and residents of eight upazilas in the district.
At a press conference, the organisers said that the contest would be held in two stages. In the primary stage, at least five contesters would be selected from each venue and a total of 45 contesters will compete in the second round.
Six seasoned local artistes will be evaluating the contestants’ performances. They are: Mongsathowai Chowdhury, Abul Kashem, Kajol Chowdhury, Jibon Roaza, Ratan Tripura and Erina Chakma.
Tk three lakh has been allocated for the programme. A 21-member committee has been formed to organiser and oversee the competition. KHDC councillor Abu Bakar Siddiq is the convenor of the competition. Local cultural organiser Mohammad Nazim Uddin is coordinating the programme.
A total of around 500 contestants are competing in the first round, according to the organisers.
