- “Nazrul Mela” to be aired live on Channel-i - May 21st, 2008
Channel-i is organising a "Nazrul Mela" for the second time on the occasion of the 109th birth anniversary of the National Poet. A press conference to discuss the plan was held on May 20. Eminent Nazrul singer Sohrab Hossain, poet Asad Chowdhury, Faridur Reza Sagar and Shykh Seraj were present at the meeting. At the conference Sohrab Hossain reminisced memorable incidents of his life and his interaction with the legendary poet.

- Tagore birth anniversary celebrations at RU - May 21st, 2008
Rajshahi was recently abuzz with cultural activity. Udichi Shilpi Goshthi of Rajshahi University unit recently organised a discussion and cultural programme at RUCSU office to mark the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore.
In the course of the discussion, Shantanu Kawsar presented a keynote paper titled Rabindra Drishti: Shikha.

- New town hall inaugurated in Khagrachhari - May 21st, 2008
A programme organised by the Khagrachhari Municipality, was held recently to celebrate the inauguration of the Khagrachhari Town Hall. In the course of a discussion, speakers applauded the government for its endeavour to create a supportive environment, which can play a significant role in nurturing cultural activities in Chittagong Hill Tracts.

- Fahmida and Shuvro Dev on ATN Unplugged - May 19th, 2008
ATN Bangla will air the musical programme ATN Unplugged tonight at 8:45 pm. Hosted by popular musician Sumon, the programme is aired on Mondays, fortnightly.
Each episode of the show features two singers. The featured artistes take part in an interactive session, talking about their lives, music and more. Apart from the interviews, the programme also features performance by the featured musicians.

Nazrul Sangeet Shilpi Parishad (NSSP) has announced plans to celebrate the 109th birth anniversary of our National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam with a three-day programme. The event, “Nobin Asha Jaglo Je Re Aaj” will be held from May 19 to 21 at the Shawkat Osman Auditorium, Central Public Library, according to NSSP. At their second anniversary celebration, Baul Kalyan Samity, Sylhet honoured four renowned bauls of Sylhet. artistes are, Kafil Uddin Sarker, Sabul Miah, Waris Ali and Ataur Rahman.
The Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet, Harun-Ur-Rashid Khan was the chief guest at the programme. - Dhaka Music Conservatory in full gear - May 6th, 2008
Dhaka Music Conservatory, the music institution of Centre for Asian Arts and Cultures (CAAC), was founded in 2001. Initially the institution offered piano, violin and cello lessons. To run a conservatory properly, teachers with required academic background with a focus in their respective areas are needed. The institution now has all of the teachers to meet these requirements, organisers said at a press conference on May 5.
